Spring Arts Conference May 4-6, 2012

Workshops in painting and photography will be offered in this creative, lively and educational weekend. Through seminars, discussion and small workshop groups led by experienced artists, growing artists will hone their craft within the context of faith and art.
Choose from Saturday afternoon talks and seminars on a variety of topics pertaining to art and faith. Weekend participants will choose one small group workshop in either landscape painting or photography which will meet several times over the weekend. Please bring appropriate art supplies. If you aren’t sure what to bring, let us know and we’ll supply you with a list. If you have some of your own “works in progress” please bring them along as well. The conference begins on Friday afternoon with registration from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. and ends on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. Brochures are available online or please let us know if you would like one mailed to you and we’ll be happy to add you to our mailing list. | Registration Options and Costs:
Participants should be adults or mature High School students. You may choose from Landscape painting or Photography. $100 deposit is due upon registration (or full balance for Saturday only), with balance due upon arrival.
Workshop Fees: Register before February 28, 2012 an pay only $275 for full weekend. This includes all conference sessions, meals and 2 nights lodging. Register between March 1- 31, 2012 and registration cost is $300. Register between April 1 and May 1,2012 and registration is $325. Day Participants $175 before February 28, 2012. Includes conference sessions and lunch Saturday and Sunday. Dinner available for additional fee, advanced reservation required. Fees from March 1- 31, 2012 $200. Fees from April 1 to May 1, 2012 is $225. Saturday Only $100 Includes Saturday conference sessions, lunch and dinner. Family members: Those who would like to bring their families along for a Vermont vacation are welcome to do so. Rates for Adults (ages 13 and up) is $100 per person and includes lodging, Friday night dinner, Saturday breakfast and dinner and Sunday breakfast. Additional meals may be purchased. Landscape Painter and Illustrator, Reed Prescott III
Reed Prescott is one of New England's premier artists and illustrators. His oil paintings are receiving acclaim throughout the country. Prescott was the feature artist at the Seacoast Flower Festival in Durham, New Hampshire, and was asked to write a section in the North Lights on "How to Paint with Water Soluble Oil Paints." As a painter, Reed's work appears in numerous galleries and shows across the northeast, including Maryland's renowned Easton Waterfowl Festival, The Vermont Institute of Natural Science's wildlife art show, the Vermont Museum and Gallery Alliance's Reflections on Basin Harbor, and group shows in New Jersey and Cape Cod. As an illustrator, he has illustrated ten books, including Owls and Birds of Prey, both by Floyd Scholz; Ron Rood's Vermont: A nature guide; and Vermont Wildlife Viewing Guide by Cindy Kilgore Brown, developed in cooperation with Defenders of Wildlife. | Photographer, Jim Mauchly
Mauchly has been a full-time photographer since 1990. During the 1990s, he worked as a freelance photographer for a variety of studios and commercial clients in southern New Hampshire and Colorado. He has also worked in digital photo restoration, digital imagery, and design from the early 1990's.
Mauchly is passionate about his work, whether he is shooting landscapes, nature or portraits, outdoors, at a wedding, or in his studio. "I love to explore the way light illuminates a scene or a single object, a person, tree, or flower, and to examine the possibilities from every angle," he says. "I aspire to reveal the beauty of God's creation, often missed by the casual observer." Mauchly is a member of the Professional Photographers of America. He serves on the advisory committee for the Digital Communications and Multimedia Design curriculum at River Bend Career and Technical Center in Bradford, Vermont. He has taught photography and Photoshop™ classes at River Bend, and at New Hampshire Community Technical College, as well as in his own studio.
